| Ok, So I think I am going to buy this 99 Cherokee... not for off roading at this time... however it still has the original size tires P215/75-15RS (or something like that) and it looks like a weenie mobile so it naturally needs bigger tires (and a minor lift but thats another discussion)
As you all know I am from Kansas and do travel there quite frequently, I need some advice on how big I can go with the tires and still get decent gas milage... BTW I am thinking only a 2" lift... any ideas?

| kansas you can stuff 30x9.50/15 under it with no lift, if you want a inexpencive kit NTW has this one for a good price. http://www.ntwonline.com/84-01_JEEP_XJ_3_KIT_W_SHOCKS_P12825C794.cfm this will let you fit 31" tires with no problem. as far as milage not sure, I personaly got between 16-18 mpg out of my old 90 comanche pu w/30x9.50's with 4.0 and 5spd and 308 gears.
You need to no what gears it has to figure out how the tires will efect the performance. | |

| ok and I read that I can increase the gears to 3.56 or something to get the same milage with bigger tires as you do with stock tires which is good... im happy with 18-20ish hwy its not much worse than I was getting in my mercury with 6 cylinders | |

| You can fit 235/75/15's o3 30x9.50x15s without lifting or cutting. With a 2" lift you can fit 31"s without cutting. You can fit 33"s without lifting if you cut.
If its an auto it probably has 3.55's in it. Those wont be bad for 31's and below. I have run 33x12.50's on my 33's for about a year. Its not bad but the mileage sucks.
Id stick with 235x75's and keep it stock if you want decent mileage and dont plan on offroading it. |
