| CJ ran great all day today. Got in it tonight and started and idled fine. Got about halfway to work and at a stoplight noticed it was idling rough and strong gas smell. When I got to work I left it running and got out and noticed there was white/blueish smoke coming from the exhaust. I stopped and put some gas in it as soon as I left the house, so not sure if it could be bad gas. Maybe some moisture in the tank? I dunno any suggestions? | |

| Check all fliud levels (white smoke = coolant/ blueish= oil) hold a piece of paper at exhaust and see what residue it leaves... let us know | |

| No wonder Holley, not my favorite. try a Edelbrock or get a marine carb would be better. they are made so fuel wont slosh and kill the motor, help you on steep inclines | |

| Holley is a simple rebuild. Edelbrock is better tho, more reliable. The ones I have put on street rods were near ready to run right out of the box. | |

| Looked at it more tonight and I'm pretty sure one of the floats is stuck. Looks like the fuel is above the sight hole where it should be level because we can see alot of fuel dripping constant through the top of the carb. | |

| If you have fuel coming out of the vent tube, you have a stuck float. | |

| Holleys a good carb . I used them years for racing but you have to keep them tuned right. Sounds like you need a rebuild kit put in that one its one of the easy carbs to rebuild.Summit or Jegs should have everything you need if you cant get the stuff local.Be sure to check float for fuel in it. You might want to pull your plugs and have a look you may have a couple gas filed from flooding out. | |

| Did you fix it yet? Floats an easy fix can help if you need it. | |

Not yet. I'm hoping to get to check it again today. I'd bring it tomorrow but it may be too dark to check it out by the time we get there. | |

| You could just yank the carb off and bring it if it's runnin that rough. I don't think a kit cost more than $30. or you could drive it up if able. Have your WVIRC ideas with you. | |

| Unscrewed both fuel level site plugs. One closest to the driver side fender came out and barely dribbled some gas across the threads just like the directions on Holleys website said it should do.
Unscrewed the other side and gas poured out until it ran out enough to be level with the fuel level site plug hole.
Float stuck? | |

| Yeah I'm happy. Shes running good now and I still plan on rebuilding the carb when I go to pull the tub off after vacation. She'll be down for 2-3 weeks for a makeover so a perfect time to rebuild it. | |

| Now I know who to give all my junk Holleys too, I useually just chuck them in the trash, never had a good one, and never installed a good one, always had to muck with them to get to run right. | |

| Heck Yea I will take any junk holleys you have. The trouble some people have with them is they dont want to tune them they just want to take them for the box and expect them to run great. But as you all know any mods to exhaust, timing, heads or anything like that means retuning the carb for a near perfect match. When i raced 1/4 mile we would have to retune the carbs if we went from fairmont dragstrip to a dragstrip in PA. Oh well just rambling on about the good old days. | |
